Are you going to be adopting a cat soon? You’ll need a litterbox and, of course, litter to go inside of it. The question is, how do you choose the right litter for your feline friend? Here, your Plano, TX veterinarian goes over some choices.
There are varying levels of coarseness, or granule size, when it comes to litter. Some cats prefer a fine, almost dust-like litter, while some like a much chunkier type. You might have to experiment a bit to see what your cat prefers.
Scented vs. Non-Scented
Some cats won’t mind a scented litter, which are made to help control odors even more and leave things smelling fresh. Other cats won’t like scented litter at all, though. If your cat is shunning their bathroom and you’re using a scented version, it might be time to switch things up.
Do you own multiple cats who all use the same litterbox? It’s best to purchase a multi-cat litter, made to be even stronger for use by multiple cats in the household. Ask your vet for a recommendation.
